Pig Trail Scenic Drive Fall 2015

Pig Trail Scenic Drive Fall 2015

We decided to take a drive down the Pig Trail from Northwest Arkansas down to Ozark, Arkansas. Molly had never driven the road and I decided it was high time she experience the drive!!

We both enjoyed the drive immensely and stopped several times to take pictures of the incredible colors and majesty of Autumn in the Ozarks. We missed the peak “leaf” weekend I think, but there were still fantastic colors to behold.

There was a small campground before we got to Turner’s Bend on the Mulberry River. It had a small lake that was very serene and beautiful.

I don’t know what this plant is, but it was quite prolific and the most brilliant red I think I’ve ever seen. There were some much larger than this that were brilliant lime green at the top and bright red on the bottom. I would LOVE to know what this plant is so I could find out if it is indigenous to the area and would it live in our yard!!

Then we found ourselves at Turner Bend on the Mulberry River. It had a beautiful campground area and a very old, but proud steel bridge.

As we wound our way around I-40 and up I-49 back into Fayetteville, we witnessed another stunning sunset. So many stages of yellows and pinks. There were several spots where the sun was shining onto the tops of trees and it was beautiful.

All in all, another fabulous weekend. We are very much beginning to look forward to our treks outdoors and hope to make them happen much more frequently!!!
